You probably don't know this, but today is The First Annual International Phrase-a-Palooza. (We'll call it Phrase Day for short.) The reason you probably don't know this is because I just made it up. But that doesn't make Phrase Day any less a thing. Someone has to make these holidays up, and it might as well be me.
So, why Phrase Day?
I'm glad you asked. And the answer is simple.
It has everything to do with the long lobe of the liver.
Reading the levitical law can be slow going, but it has its poetic moments, and one of them appears exactly eleven times between Exodus 29 and Leviticus 9. Behold, "the long lobe of the liver." Maybe it's the alliteration, or maybe it's the cadence, but every time I came to that phrase, I smiled and had to repeat it to myself several times.
The long lobe of the liver. I mean, is it just me, or is that a party waiting to happen?
Okay. So, maybe "the long lobe of the liver" doesn't do it for you. But that's why we have a holiday like Phrase Day! Today you're invited to celebrate a phrase that makes you happy. I hope you'll begin by sharing it here in the comments, but don't stop there. Say your phrase out loud as you go about your day, to people you meet in the grocery store aisle or sitting in the next car at the stop light. Don't be shy! Bring a smile to someone's face. (I'm already smiling as I imagine you shouting your phrase to strangers in public.)
Happy Phrase Day, friends. Live long (lobe of the liver) and prosper.
Consider the platypus, you dour, and smirk.

The walrus has spoken.

To the uneducated, an A is just three sticks.
(Winnie the Pooh said that!)

"I love Winnie the Pooh," the walrus said, while considering the platypus and smirking.
(I really do love Winnie the Pooh!)

I'm a little late for the "official" Phrase-a-Palooza, but in the spirit of the holiday I will contribute my latest favorite phrase which is found in a song I'm teaching my kindergarteners:
The caboose came loose.
None of us can help but giggle and grin when we sing that line.
We've even added a bit of "caboose-shaking" choreography. :)
