There are days in my life where I know I couldn't get through them if not for constant spiritual motivation: favorite bible verse, poems, prayers from friends, songs, that same Olsteen sermon and my knicknacks. You know? Trinkets that give you--and only you--that extra something to keep working on a WIP you now have nightmares about long after you've sent it off to agents and editors. You need these oddities to peel yourself off the walls. Today I want to share mine with you...well not, all...just the ones I carry with me everywhere and especially on days when I feel that God wouldn't mind if I missed my wordcount.
At my writing station are:
1. A pack of autographed forget me nots.
Chuck Palahniuk sent these to me three years ago. I carry them a box he autographed. They motivate me to keep writing with a dream that the day I receive a published contract I will plant them and mail him a picture of the flowers and a copy of my book.
If you don't know I love, love love Hello Kitty. Last year I learned a valuable lesson about being a portable writer. Thanks to some great friends I have the funniest, wackiest flash drives. They give me a great sense of humor.
3. Colorful Mead Composition Books.
My novels are separated by Acts inside different notebooks. Don't ask. Their cheap. I can write in carpool, at a restaurant and its thin and small enough for my purse. Plus I don't have to lug my laptop.
4. Kooky Pens. My BFF, Natasha bought me this pen. Selah wants it so bad. I love them. Check out this cute flick. My pen, Pizmo is in the cast.:) Pizmo also has a keychain attached, so the flash drive sits snug as a bug on it.
5.A Great Book
A new well written novel always gets my juices going. Claudia Burney's Zora & Nicky is doing that for me now.
6. My favorite bible verse- Hebrews 11:1, which is on all my composition books. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." If you're like me and your holding on by a hair for not just a chance to become a published novelist, but to write stories that pleases God, you need substance. This verse holds me down.
7. John Legend's Show Me. This prayer/song tells me of the kind of conversations I need to have with God on the regular.
Now I know I'm sure you're wondering what kind of purse does this diva chica have? Let's just say God has a big heart. :)
Now what are your must have knicknacks to stay motivated.

Those Mead Composition books are nice. They're sturdy, and they look 'keepable'.
